A group that represents the snow crab quota ownership has asked for an extension of the season due to all the problems with the ice.
The ice has been so bad this season they have hired tugs to break the ice and assist the boats into the harbor. At one point a tug got stuck.
It should be interesting to see how all this plays out on Deadliest Catch. Especially since the show is scheduled to start back up again mid April and they may not be finished crabbing until June.
And what does this mean for Catch Con 2012? A June date for that also?
There have been some crazy pictures of the ice out there this season. I just hope everyone thinks smart and stays safe.
